Valentine’s Day Dining Out and Winter Menu Items 2011

Many of Rhode Island’s best places to dine out are offering specials for this coming weekend before Valentine’s Day, and some that are usually closed on Mondays are open February 14th. Also listed below are some of the newer menu items that some restaurants are offering for these long winter months.

Valentine’s Day:

The Boat House will serve its full dinner menu as well as a Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu, Saturday, February 12th through Monday, February 14th. Café Noir will feature a Pomegranate Mimosa composed of champagne, St. Germaine, and pomegranate seeds to start, followed by first course specials of a Tian of Crab with scallop ceviche and gazpacho and Confit of Duck Raviolo with a cassoulet of beans and wild boar sausage. Entrée specials will feature Beef Wellington for Two: center cut beef tenderloin, mushroom duxelle and duck liver pate wrapped in puff pastry and served with baby carrots and pomme fondant and pan-roasted Chilean Sea Bass with braised puy lentils, ratatouille compote, and crispy prosciutto, while the Valentine’s dessert will feature a Study in Chocolate for Two: a selection of miniature chocolate. Chez Pascal will be offering a Special 3 Course Menu with surprise treats of love along the way. $69 per person not including tax, gratuity or beverages. Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar makes it easier for couples to share the passion this year with a romantic sharing menu and four days to celebrate. Winter Menu Highlights:

Fleming’s Winter Prix Fixe Menu Fleming’s Executive Chef Russell Skall has created an innovative 3-course dinner that will cure winter blues with bold and flavorful offerings. Julian’s has released their winter menu (view the entire menu online). Highlights include, house made pancetta and bacon, as well as a new house made vegan Italian sausage as a great meat free alternative. Persimmon has several new menu items such as Slow roasted Berkshire breed pork loin wrapped in apple wood smoked bacon with glazed root vegetables and Brussels sprout leaves; Braised Vermont bob veal with crispy veal sweetbreads, glazed native carrots and onions, blanquette de veau sauce; and Broken Arrow Ranch venison leg filet with house-made venison sausage, glazed fennel, onions and brown beech mushrooms.
