Newport Restaurant Group International Women’s Day 2023

Join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8th with a very special dinner at Avvio in Cranston.
The incredibly talented female chefs and leaders of Newport Restaurant Group are teaming up to prepare a four-course dinner in celebration of achievements of women. Chef Jenn Backman from Waterman Grille will start things off by preparing the first course, Chef Kat Caine from Avvio will be creating the second course and Chef Marissa Lo from Boat House will be overseeing course three. Your dessert will be the creation of Chef Mariana Gonzalez-Trasvina from Bar ‘Cino and La Vecina. Stephanie Steed, the wine director at 22 Bowens, will be pairing each course wines from wineries with female winemakers with each course. We will also be welcoming some female guests, instructors and students, from Providence Career and Technical Academy. It’s a truly unique event that highlights the current and future achievements of women in our industry.
Here is the menu:
First Course (from Chef Jenn Backman): Beet Carpaccio – pastrami spiced native beets, whipped chevre, pumpernickel crisps, pickled mustard seeds, petite herbs and blossoms
Second Course (from Chef Kat Caine): Burrata Agnolotti – english pea and herb pesto, pistachio, saba, pecorino, meyer lemon oil
Third Course (from Chef Marissa Lo): Pan-Seared Karen Elizabeth Scallops – rutabega Celeriac puree, purple cauliflower caponata, crisp pancetta, chicories
Fourth Course (from Chef Mariana Gonzalez-Trasvina) Olive Oil Cake toasted white chocolate ganache, passionfruit gelee, hazelnut brittle, candied lemon
The dinner is Wednesday, March 8th at 6:30 pm at Avvio Ristorante in Cranston. The cost is $100 per person, tax and gratuity included, with reservations available for tables of four and two. A portion of the proceeds will be going to Sojourner House, a Providence-based charity that helps those affected by domestic and sexual abuse. Space is limited. Please reserve below.
