Inspired by the urban greening project One Seed Chicago, Farm Fresh RI will be giving away free seeds for one of two vegetables, either the Green “Provider” Bush Bean or the Yellow “Crookneck” Summer Squash. You get to decide which seed they give away. Voting is now open, through April 6. You can vote on Facebook or in person at the Pawtucket Wintertime Farmers Market, open Wednesdays from 4 – 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Once the winning seed is chosen, Farm Fresh RI will be distributing them beginning in May at Farmers Markets and through community partners (details to come). Their hope is “farmers, chefs, schools, home growers, and community gardens will all participate in the growing, eating and community discussion.” For information on the two vegetable candidates, please see the Farm Fresh RI blog and don’t forget to vote!
