Yacht Club Bottling Works, The Official Soda and Water Company of Rhode Island, has released its second Limited Release flavor Mercy Brown, a “Vampire’s” Blood Orange Mango Soda. Fresh and here for Halloween, the seasonal soda has a label with a new image featuring Rhode Island’s most famous vampire.

“Our first seasonal release, this past summer’s Berrymelon Rebellion, was a huge hit right out of the gate. I almost immediately began planning our fall flavor,” said Yacht Club owner John Sgambato. “Blood orange makes a great, dark red colored soda and everyone growing up in Rhode Island knows the story of Mercy Brown, New England’s Last Vampire. Once the flavor and Halloween theme came together, calling it Vampire’s Blood Orange Mango soda was perfect.”

Sgambato described his concept to nationally syndicated sports, editorial and entertainment cartoonist/artist and Rhode Island resident, Frankie Galasso, who drew the limited release label containing the white Baptist church and historic gravestone on Ten Rod Road in Exeter. “John knows what he wants in a label,” Galasso said. “We have a process where he gives me his ideas and we send photos back and forth until we have the label. There’s some history with Mercy Brown, like with the Gaspee label, but this one we could have more fun with.” Galasso can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/frankgalassori/.

Mercy Brown is now available at the Yacht Club Bottling Works Factory Store in North Providence, will be sold at farmers markets and can be found in local stores and restaurants through distribution by McLaughlin & Moran. The Orange Mango soda is delicious on its own and will also make a great mixer for fall cocktails—you could even add pumpkin spice! It’s only being sold through the season, or while supplies last, so don’t miss out on this delicious flavor with another very Rhode Island label.
