Experience “Dine Central Falls” from October 18- 20, 2012 – UPDATED

Dine Central FallsNews release from Mike Ritz, Executive Director Leadership Rhode Island

For the first time, restaurants in Central Falls will come together and offer special deals that celebrate the city’s diverse eateries

It may be the smallest city in the smallest state, but Central Falls is home to more than 30 unique restaurants, many serving authentic ethnic cuisine from eight different nations.

The first-ever Dine Central Falls will celebrate the city’s dining scene, showcasing a variety of fare, from Colombian to Mexican and Chinese to classic comfort food. October 18 thru 20, ten restaurants will offer special deals.

Rhode Island’s urban communities are a vital piece in growing the state’s economy. Through promotion of Central Fall’s cultural diversity and showcasing its variety of authentic eateries these restaurants will have the opportunity to provide an affordable snapshot of offerings and attract new diners.

A key part of my economic development plan and priorities is to support and revitalize our main street communities like Central Falls,” said Governor Lincoln D. Chafee. “By increasing economic activity in our urban communities we open the doors to help Rhode Island’s greater economy grow and prosper.”

The event is being organized by members of the Theta II class of Leadership Rhode Island, in conjunction with Governor Chafee’s municipal team, the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) and the City of Central Falls.

“We are excited for local residents, as well as diners from surrounding communities, to come revisit old favorites and – best of all – try new places,” said Pauline Bellavance, one of the event Project Leaders. “Dine Central Falls will stimulate both the economy and the palate.”

From Oct. 18 -20 diners can expect to pay $9.95 or less for meals. Participating restaurants include: 3 Amigos, El AnTojo, El Paisa Restaurant & Bar, Georgia’s Restaurant, La Casona Restaurant, Sparky’s, Stanley’s, Taqueria Lupita and the Madeira Club.

“Food is the heart and soul of a community.” said Mike Ritz, Executive Director, Leadership Rhode Island. “Dine Central Falls is a delicious way for all of us to commune together as a state as we enjoy food from 27 restaurants in one-square mile. Raise a toast in celebration of this community’s passion, entrepreneurship, and spirit!”

“We are extremely excited to host the first annual Dine Central Falls,” said Steve Larrick, Planning and Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Central Falls. “This is one event you do not want to miss, and you are sure to discover some hidden gems.”

For more information, visit the Dine Central Falls Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DineCentralFalls. Please note that some restaurants accept cash only, so diners should check the website in advance.
