Eat Drink RI The Show with guest Phil Rosenthal of “Somebody Feed Phil” and so much more

by David Dadekian September 3, 2025
written by David Dadekian

In this episode of Eat Drink RI The Show, David Dadekian interviews Phil Rosenthal, creator and star of the Netflix series “Somebody Feed Phil,” and a whole lot more!

Please check out the entire series page or view the playlist on YouTube.

Also available as an audio-only podcast below.

As you might expect, a conversation with Phil Rosenthal is a joyful affair. He was on his elliptical machine while we spoke, which was funny, but also very practical. I eat for a living and I don’t think I eat nearly as much as Phil does, so regular exercise is a must. We talked about a variety of topics, even veering off into acting like two members of the Mel Brooks fan club at one point (legend!).

Readers and viewers of Eat Drink RI may know Phil more for the eight seasons of his Netflix series Somebody Feed Phil than for the nine seasons of his hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. That seems to suit Phil as he’s clearly in his travel and food era. If you’re a fan of both series (and who didn’t love Raymond?) the guest appearances in the Vegas episode in this latest season of Somebody Feed Phil is absolutely hilarious.

Phil is currently touring North America with a two-night stop in our area at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston on September 10th and 11th. Tickets are available through his Phil Rosenthal World site, along with links to all his upcoming live shows around Canada and the United States.

Highlights from our conversation included a briefly serious moment of discussion around celebrating other cultures and following the Golden Rule. To quote Phil, “I find that most immigrants in the world all over the world make the place they immigrate to better, not worse,” and “It’s insane and stupid to think that we don’t need people from other places when most of us and our families came from other places.” We expound a bit more on that in the interview, so please take a listen or watch.

On a lighter note, when Phil says “I’m the luckiest guy you’re ever going to meet” you do realize that he genuinely recognizes the ability he has to spread joy and amplify the message of others because of his own success. Plus, as he titled one of his books, “You’re Lucky You’re Funny,” and along with food, music and love, laughter is another universal constant of humanity. Phil definitely has a lot of wonderful laughter around him. So he’s also got that going for him, which is nice.

Please check out our full interview above or at one of the podcast links below. All the links we talk about can be found in the YouTube description, but I’m going to list them all here as well. I’d appreciate if you subscribed to my YouTube channel or podcast and like, comment, etc. Thank you!
