Hemenway’s Restaurant, located at 121 South Main Street in Providence, Rhode Island, will house a four-course wine dinner on Monday, March 4th, featuring the acclaimed wines of Hartford Court, part of the Hartford Family Winery in Sonoma County, California.
The evening will be presented by Don Hartford, CEO and co-owner of Hartford Family Winery and a Massachusetts native. A cocktail reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The cost of the event is $135 per person; tax and gratuity are additional. For more information or to make a reservation, please visit www.hemenwaysrestaurant.com or call 401-351-8570. Space is limited for the event, so early reservations are recommended.
The evening will begin with a selection of passed appetizers, including Tuna Tartare Cornets with pickled Fresno chile and creme fraiche; Local Fried Oyster Canape with pickled shallots; Deviled Eggs with lump crab and prosciutto; and Smoked Gouda Arancini with smoked paprika aioli, all paired with the 2022 Russian River Valley Chardonnay, a blend of fruit harvested in August, which lends great elegance and bright acidity, and fruit harvested in September, giving more ripe fruit and richness.
Dinner will begin with Chinook Salmon Crudo with Cara Cara orange segments, fennel, and green olive, paired with the 2019 Four Hearts Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley. Rated a ‘94’ by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, this medium-bodied selection, fermented in French oak barrels, offers bold, ripe pear and peach notes.
The second course will feature Yellowfin Tuna Bolognese with olive oil confit tuna and complemented by the 2021 Hartford Court Warrior Princess Block Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley. Rated a ‘95’ by Audrey Frick of jebdunnuck.com, this medium ruby wine features notes of wild herbs, clove, raspberry, and orange oil and fine tannins and fresh acidity throughout.
A dish of pan-seared native Monkfish will follow, with duxelles, garlic puree, and tempura mushrooms, accompanied by the 2021 Land’s Edge Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. The wine features aromas of red and black cherry, pomegranate, and dried rose petal, and the layered flavors of dark berries, plum and licorice offer an elegant and polished texture.
For dessert, a rich Chocolate Mousse with fresh raspberries and coulis will be paired with the 2022 Russian River Valley Zinfandel, an elegant blend of five vineyard-designates with satisfying layers of black raspberry, cherry, cola, and white pepper.
